INTRODUCTION

電郵 embree@fau.edu

This website is devoted to fostering phenomenological investigation rather than scholarship on texts and the genre of “reflective analysis” to serve that purpose.

The site is divided into two parts, one of writings by me and one for writings by others. Some writings are unpublished, more are free, some are e-publications, and some are in languages other than English. I hope it is understood that there are overlaps and repetitions. And I am hopeful that colleagues will propose reflective analyses written by them and/or that they find in writings by yet others.

My hope is that selections of such reflective analyses will be used by professors in seminars taught by Socratic method to help advanced undergraduate as well as graduate students to become phenomenologists rather than learning to talk about it. But of course interested colleagues may study some of these reflective analyses for their own edification. Something more is said about the need for such literature immediately below. Incidentally, I am very much in favor of translations for use where teaching is not done in English.

It is my understanding that others can make single copies of texts for their personal research and teaching purposes (if this is mistaken, I hope somebody will let me know). Copyrighted texts should of course be cited correctly in publications. I can be contacted at embree@fau.edu if one wishes to publish what are listed as by me as unpublished or to translate items published or not and not already in the language one teaches in.

Phenomenologically,
